Check-in at the registration desk for a quick overview of the day and information about how to sign-up for specialist councils (and win prizes)! Then help yourself to a hot drink and a muffin, and explore the exhibit tables before the day begins. Many of the ATA’s 21 specialist councils and student locals will be on hand to tell you about the services they provide to education students and beginning teachers. There may even be some opportunities to win prizes!

Come prepared to engage in a variety of activities and discussions to explore the benefits and potential of discipline-embedded numeracy skills.

Are you looking for new ways to engage your students? Join Dan for a dynamic session where we will explore 20 versatile no-prep and low-prep activities you can implement in any subject and grade level. Be ready to engage with interactive activities and explore practical applications for these strategies in your teaching context.

What good story doesn't have a good adventure? In this session we will discuss and show examples of how games and activities can complement those stories/lessons you teach in class. It might lead to students understanding the concepts at a deeper level or if anything just having more fun! We will also go through a variety of games, activities and resources to get your students outdoors, active and leading the way! Why wait for a PE class that might only be a few days a week!? Let's help show teachers and students the purpose of daily fresh air and some simple games to help lead them.

Are you interested in learning how to communicate your professional story and showcase your educational, professional, leadership and volunteer experience to pique the interest of employers when you apply for your first teaching jobs?In this session, Dan will share advice on how to design your resume and write a strong cover letter to improve your chances of landing an interview.

Dan will wrap-up the day and will show you how to sign-up for the specialist council(s) and will draw some door prizes.

After the event, if you email dan.grassick@ata.ab.ca a screenshot that shows that you've registered for at least one specialist council, you'll be entered into a raffle for a $100 Visa gift card. You need to email proof of registration in a council to Dan by February 8 to be eligible to win.
